Summary/Abstract: The coming out in July 2008 of the document representing the stance of the Russian Orthodox Church on the human rights is, without any doubt, a theological novelty. Similar to the document prepared in 2000 on the fundaments of the social conception, this one comes to fulfi l the Orthodox literature in terms of updated public agenda. We hope that this document would, like the one in 2000, be more than an export product. Such a distinct position should fi rst of all stimulate a real debate inside both the local Russian Church and the other national Orthodox Churches. This study aims to be a brief introduction to the document in July 2008 and offers a translation of the presented text in Romanian.
