Summary/Abstract: The economic migration is a complex and versatile process. It is a source of both benefits and expenditure for the source and the target countries as well as for the migrants themselves and their families and the global economy as a whole. The volume, skills profile and other characteristics of the migration flows influence these effects as well as other macro-economic indices related to migration. These include the labour market conditions, trade, investments, rate of economic growth, and the level of economic development of each country. Important additional factors are the socio-cultural capacity of the receiving country to accept and integrate the new immigrants as well as the readiness of their mother country to respond to the new economic stimuli such as the money transferred by the immigrants and the new skills returning to the country. The main objective of the paper is to determine the degree of the negative and positive effects of the economic migration for the economic development of the country using statistical and mathematical as well as econometric approaches and models. The toolbox includes a set of research methods, bibliographical review of the available sources, graphical and schematic presentation of the relations and trends related to the effects of migration, analyses of empirical data, verification of the working hypotheses and identification of the benefits and expenditure in all sectors of the social and economic life of the country, related to the economic migration of the population.
