Summary/Abstract: The study discusses how new technologies are changing modern warfare. It deals with cyber warfare, automated and autonomous arms, nanotechnologies, etc. This publication follows another publication by the same author, devoted to drone strikes (See the Bulgarian legal journal “Pravna missal”, No 3, 2014.) The article stresses that cyber operations in armed conflict situations could have potentially very serious consequences, especially when their effect is not limited to the data of the targeted computer system. Units to ensure cyber security are created at every level of government. It is well established that the increasing complexity of weapon systems re- quires an interdisciplinary approach to the conduct of weapon reviews. Developers need to be aware of international humanitarian law principles that apply to the employment of weapons. Lawyers need to be aware of how a weapon will be operationally employed and use this knowledge for formulating operational guidelines. Law on weaponry is developing not horizontally but almost in a vertical way in the beginning of the 21st century. Not only legal problems, also problems of ethics have to be discussed and appropriate solutions to be found.
