ANNA SWIDERKOWNA (ANNA SWIDEREK) 1925–2008

Summary/Abstract: On 16 August 2008 in Warsaw died Professor Anna Świderek, an eminent Polish scholar, professor emerita of the University of Warsaw, former head of the Chair of Papyrology. In the earlier days of her university career she had been an editor of Greek papyri. Later, she became an author of books on the history and culture of the Hellenistic world. In the last two decades she wrote almost exclusively books on the Bible, with a perceptible preference for the Old Testament.
