Summary/Abstract: Letters are an important part of Evagrius’ literary legacy. Unfortunately most of them have not survived until our time in their Greek original. An exception is a long-known Greek text of the so-called Sermo sive Dogmatica epistula de Sanctissima Trinitate, conveyed with the works of Basil of Caesarea (ep. 8). There also exists a Syrian version of this letter. A lengthy and important letter extant only in a Syrian translation is an epistle from Evagrius to Melania (Epistula ad Melaniam). There is also a corpus of 62 more letters, largely preserved in Oriental languages. In 1907 Barsegh Sargisean published the Armenian version of 30 of these letters5 and in 1912 W. Frankenberg published the Syrian translation of all of Evagrius’ correspondence.
