Summary/Abstract: In 1998, American director Todd Haynes decided to make "Velvet Goldmine", the film shot as a tribute and elegy of glam rock, one of the most progressive, transgressive and creative moments in the history of pop-culture. One of major New Queer Cinema artists, Haynes portrayed glam rock from the perspective of queer theory, and concentrated first of all on androgyny, the creature transgressing all categories based on the binary system. Kosińska analyses the film and its androgynous heroes, citing the categories of camp and Judith Butler’s theories on performative gender constitution.
