Summary/Abstract: The contemporary bloom of the ethnological studies in Bulgaria is connected with the development of Bulgarian society – a society of developed socialism. Three aspects are important for the present recognition of the Bulgarian people: the development and the consolidation of the socialist nation, the personal sense of contemporary processes in national consciousness, the new quality of national culture. The problems of Bulgarian ethnology are examined consecutively both in the sociological, and in the logic-epistemological aspect. After the entirety of Bulgarian national revival ethnology, after the works of Iv. Shishmanov, M. Arnaudov, Y. Ivanov and others, in contemporary studies the tendency towards synthesis is strong. The ethnological problems are contained in “snapshot” within the system of our contemporary study of community as a whole. This necessitates a change in the investigative approach of folklore studies and ethnography and hence their new place in the system of the study of the society.
