Summary/Abstract: A settlement of the Przeworsk culture in Wałkow – Kurnica, site 1 has been systematically examined by the Museum of Wieluń Land since 1996. As a result of hitherto works, huge amount of differentiated material of great cognitive value has been obtained. Within an enormous group of various pottery products an interesting and rare find, beside published three-footed vessel (B. Abramek, T. Makiewicz 2004, pp. 317 – 326) is only partly preserved horizontal ring-shaped vessel with miniature cover. Fragments of this vessel were found in pit no 16 (fig. 2, 3) situated within part “C” of the settlement under the investigation together with a set of 6 cups (3 of them have been totally reconstructed, fig. 4: 1, 3, 5 – 8), a part of a big storage vessel (fig. 4: 4) and a fragment of a miniature vessel (fig. 4: 2). The closest, as far the only, analogy to our vessel is a similar one from a cemetery in Wąchock (B. Balke, W. Bender 1991, p. 134). On these grounds, we think that the artifact from Wałków-Kurnica originally had also 3 miniature vessels- covers, and moreover 3 supporting feet. Ornamental elements of the discussed artifact were more developed and wealthier than the analogy from Wąchock. Both vessels are local products set in stylistic realities of the pottery of the Przeworsk culture. In pit 16, the presence of a hearth with a post and rather untypical set of vessels suggests that we deal with an object of special purpose connected more with agrarian cult of fertility (A. Niewęgłowski 1981, p. 441- 442) than with the death`s rites (E. Grohne 1932, p. 78- 79). Agrarian and farming activities of this settlement are confi rmed by rich material. Pit no 16 together with its equipment is dated to the turn of the 3rd century A.D.
