Summary/Abstract: Language acquisition is one of the most fascinating areas that a linguist can address, while also being of the most frustrating, given its enormous difficulties on a theoretical level. There are numerous methods to understand how language acquisition occurs among children (Kidd 2006, 314), whilst it is also known that there is no unified language acquisition theory. At the same time, in comparative studies of linguistic theories, no linguist dealing with acquisitional elements seems to have considered, thus far, how psychomechanics can contribute to theories of language acquisition. In this article, aimed primarily at followers of Guillaume’s theory, I shall therefore present an initial and truly fundamental discussion on the relationship between the implicit references to acquisition made in Guillaume’s work and several well-known stances in the area of acquisition.
