60th Anniversary of The NULBiH

Summary/Abstract: On 12th of December 2005, the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrated its 60th anniversary. On this occasion a number of manifestations were arranged which began with a exhibition and solemn ceremony in the presence of numerous friends of the Library and respectable guests from diplomatic corps, cultural and scientific institutions, and national libraries from the region. Second part of the ceremony was organized for the employees and penzioners of the NULBIH who received acknowledgements. Also, four employees of the NULBIH received acknowledgements for professional training in library function. The Exhibition Fonds and Collections of the NULBIH was opened by the Premier of the Sarajevo Canton Mr. Denis Zvizdic. Valuable cultural heritage was located in a stack room thus emphasizing the reality of this institution: its value and neglect.The Monography - National and University Library of BIH - 60 Years in Mission of Culture, Education and Science was promoted by an Academician Mr. Božidar Matić.The solemn ceremony was opened by the Director of the NULBIH Mr. Ismet Ovčina, and followed by addresses by the Premier of the Sarajevo Canton Mr. Denis Zvizdić, President of the International Humanist League Mrs. Sonja Stiegelbauer, Rector of the University of Sarajevo Mr. Hasan Muratović, and the President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts B&H Mr. Božidar Matić.
