Continuing Education of BIH Librarians

Summary/Abstract: Since 1999, in accordance with the Law on Library Function, National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina regularly organize professional trainings and exams for library personnel of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Center for Continuing Education of Librarians at NUL BIH is responsible for education, which is conducted in a form of lectures from basic professional library- information subjects, practices and practical works of trainees.The principal aim of the training is education of library personnel already employed in BIH libraries. Since May 31, 1999 to June 28, 2006, 364 candidates have successfully passed the exams. It should be noted that this course of basic library education represents first level of training, and NUL BIH's Center for Continuing Education also provides other forms of professional training as well (seminars, special courses, etc.).
