Summary/Abstract: The book of poems for children by Sasha Cherny «Children’s Island» is analysed in the article. The first part of the book, which transfers the atmosphere of the whole book and creates an image of a happy childhood, is under consideration. The images of the author and of a child are in the centre of the analysis. The main theme and the subject of the author’s poems – the process of child’s play – form the basis of the plot. A child in Sasha Cherny ‘s poetry is the main object of his world
