Summary/Abstract: The large number of studies on the Veda Slovena two-volume edition, rarely and always within the context of another scientific problem, are presenting the feasts, described in songs and in the explanatory texts. This is the argument for a more concentrated reading of the texts in search for an answer for the originality of festivity. The state of examination with a view on the specifics of the Veda Slovena source is reviewed. There is a detailed view on the problem for the birth of festivity (request, bow, forgiveness, dish, offering). The holiday calendar is analyzed from the side of the “private days”, dating, event ground, dedication, sequence of the ritual actions. Attention is paid to the common moments with the traditional Bulgarian holiday calendar, known from the ethnographic research works. The parallels are leading to the conclusion that the holiday calendar in Veda Slovena is integrated in the Bulgarian heritage and reveals less-known details of its pagan stage.
