Summary/Abstract: The Contribution of the Clergy and of the Faithful People to the Recognition of the Autocephaly (1885) and the Raising to Patriarchate (1925) of the Romanian Orthodox Church. What do autocephaly and autocephalous Church mean? By autocephalous Church we understand “the administrative and jurisdictional independence of an Orthodox ecclesiastical unit, constituted on synodical grounds, of another unit constituted the same way, within the Ecumenical Orthodoxy”. In the case of the Romanian Orthodox Church, it is about its independence of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, which took place in 1885. The formal recognition of the Autocephaly of the Romanian Orthodox Church on the 25th of April of 1885 was a huge step towards a new stage of prestige in its history, its raising to Patriarchate, which took place in 1925, with its first Patriarch, Miron Cristea (1925-1939); both clergy and faithful people contributed, at the same time, to the accomplishment of these two events in the life of our Church, as it is stated in the present paper.
