Summary/Abstract: From its origins in the 1920’s onwards, when it was first constituted from the psychiatric field, the phenomeno-structural method never ceased to develop itself, in faithfulness and continuity with the basic principles which contributed to its initial construction, which by no means prevented it from a constant evolution, enriching its basic concepts, applying or exposing them to testing in always new or renewed fields, integrating, and adapting, when it seemed necessary, ancient or contemporary instruments and practices to its own objectives and aspirations. After having pointed out the bases of this original approach which continues to keep and assert its place as one among all the theories and methods of psychopathology and more widely of today's psychology, we will try to specify its characteristics, relevance, capacity and effectiveness to deal with and answer current questions in a concrete way, including means and ways of understanding them in a relation of close proximity to their individual as well as collective origins and mechanisms.
