Summary/Abstract: Subject of this study is an unknown until now portrait of the great Bulgarian artist Ivan Nenov. This is the first publication of the portrait of Ljuba Gabrovska-Djulgerova, wife of Nikolai Djulgerov (1901- 1982), an important figure in Italian Futurism and a close friend of the artist in his early years. The portrait has been painted in 1932-33 in Torino during Nenov’s first stay in Italy. The introduction of this painting is very important for a number of reasons. First – it adds additional information to our present knowledge about the portrait heritage of the artist. It is known that Ivan Nenov has painted portraits during the end of the 1920 and the beginning of the 1940. Besides, the portrait of the wife of his friend turned out to be a point of intersection for the interpretation of Nenov’s presence in Italy. And most of all it is quite different as art texture from the artist’s style that we know and this portrait offers us a possibility to penetrate into some hidden features of his personality and spiritual ideas.
