Social Profile Of The European Union

Summary/Abstract: Social profile of the European Union is based on different theoretical models of social policy of the EU member states. Empirical concept of social policy is conditioned by specific and numerous economic-social, societal, political, geographic, geopolitical, cultural, historical, demo­graphic, ethnological and other factors. This brings differences in the level of realization of social goals and social rights of the Union citi­zens. This paper shall elaborate important economic-social indicators such are unemployment, poverty, social inequalities, health care, education, demographic tendencies, social housing and living standard, i.e. living conditions of the population of the European Union. Finally, we shall point to basic strategic goals of the development of social policy in the coming period.
