Summary/Abstract: The objective of the article is to identify the nature of spatial dependence in terms of economic determinants for the regions of Central and Eastern European countries (according to Eurostat methodology it corresponds with NUTS-2 level). Statistical and spatial econometrics tools were used for the analysis. One of the effects of the study is determining the nature and significance of spatial dependence by means of identifying the existence of clusters formed by regions-neighbours presenting the similar level of development. The second part of the article attempts to assess the impact of spatial dependence on the estimations of beta absolute convergence models. The study covered the period 2000-2010.
