Summary/Abstract: Comparative analysis of Polish and Ukrainian phraseologisms with the component “bird/ ptak” and its hyponyms is carried out, common and distinguishing connotations which are ascribed to certain names of birds are found out, national peculiarities of interpreting this fragment of the reality in cognate Polish and Ukrainian languages are determined.
