Summary/Abstract: This research paper discusses a research project that employs game’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the ability of engineers to more effectively construct an action plan to reach a solution to a design problem. The engineering design process is modelled through the use of “agents” employing Goal Oriented Action Planning (GOAP), a type of AI that has had success in commercial computer games such as F.E.A.R. The GOAP logic can be described as a cognitive information process, where knowledge is assumed to be predictable and explained with mechanistic information processing.
