Summary/Abstract: In 2009 the religious scientific journal SOTER at Vytautas Magnus university celebrates the 10th anniversary of its restoration. The journal SOTER was established in 1924 at the Theology Faculty of Vytautas Magnus university, and until 1940 it was one of the most important sources of religious sciences in interwar Lithuania. It was closed together with the loss of independence and free thought; and during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the restoration of Vytautas Magnus university, it started again its existance and followed the sequence of the previous 28 numbers. Now there are published 32 new numbers in all. On June 16, 1998 during the meeting of the Faculty Council, the leaders of St. Anthony Institute of Religious Studies at Vytautas Magnus university encouraged the restoration of the religious journal SOTER. The Faculty Council greeted the initiative and formed a group of restoration. The Council of Theology Faculty addressed the Rectorate of Vytautas Magnus university, and they presented the journal to the Department of Higher Education and Science in Lithuania. In 1999 the journal SOTER was assigned a ISSN number and funding for 2 issues a year. The journal was published by the publishers of Vytautas Magnus university. The first issue was published in June, 1999. During the years 1999–2002 were published 2 issues a year. With the growth of publications and its popularity, from 2003 three issues a year were published and starting with 2006 up to now it became a quarterly. The object of the research – the restored journal of religious sciences SOTER. The aim of the research – historiography of the SOTER. The tasks of the research: firstly, to present the origin of the restoration of SOTER in the independent Lithuania; secondly, to show the historical development of the journal; and thirdly, to present the situation of SOTER these days. The methods of the research: analysis and synthesis. According to the research, we come to such conclusions: 1. The origin of the restoration of the religious journal SOTER at Vytautas Magnus university starts with the initiative of the leaders of St. Anthony Institute of Religious Studies at Vytautas Magnus university together with the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the restoration of Vytautas Magnus university. 2. During the decade thirty two issues and five supplements were published. 3. The journal was assigned a ISSN number; the funding of university was given and created a website. 4. It was registered in the “List of Periodicals and Scientific Journals” of Lithuanian Science Council and introduced into the database of Lithuanian science and studies electronic system of documents (eLaBa). It is also introduced into the international database approved of Lithuanian Science Council. These are e-libraries of Central Eastern Europe (CEEOL), The Philosopher’s Index and Directory of Open Access Journal. 5. From 2005 the journal reached the Conference of Deans of Catholic Faculti
