The scientific work of Prof. Nikolay Jechev

Summary/Abstract: Stefan Doynov presents the scientific work of Prof. N. Jechev in an article of the same name. After giving some brief details about the life and the influences that formed him as scientist, the article focuses on the Professor's scientific contributions in the knowledge of our Renaissance past. The author of the article pays special attention to the meticulous way in which Prof. N. Jechev handled the documents, carried out the search, the processing and publishing of historical sources concerning Bulgarian history during the Revival. There is a reason to call him "the best expert in documentary heritage, covering as many as two centuries from our new history". Also it is shown regard to Prof. N. Jechev's participation in scientific conferences, where he is noteworthy for his competence and willingness to share his scientific discoveries with his colleges, and his role in the leadership of historical science.
