Summary/Abstract: In April 1999, the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) undertook a further step in its project Garment Production in Central and Eastern Europe. A researcher from the German CCC visited factories and conducted a workshop with Bulgarian unions and NGOs. The CCC is a coalition of consumer, women’s, fair trade, religious, development and trade union organisations from 11 Western European countries aiming to improve working conditions in the global apparel industry. The article reports the experiences made during this research trip based on the experience gained in previous field studies, which had been conducted in Bulgaria.
