Summary/Abstract: The present study intends a reconstruction of the milieu and the editorial priorities of the University Printing Shop from Buda making use of some recent bibliography. Owing to its key institutions, at the beginning of the 19th century, the university and the printing shop from Budapest became a culturally radiant centre for regional elites both from formative and informative point of view. The publication of original and translation works into the national idioms brought the strengthening of the national consciousness as well as the semantic development, the improvement of the literate norms and an enhancement in the esthetic standard. At another level, the scientific works contributed to the accomplishment of a specialized vocabulary and a scientific terminology too. The distinction between retrograde or progressive labeling can be done by means of this blend of ideas, tastes, regional trends and styles, differently distinguishable within the works printed by Tipographia Universitatis Budensis.
