Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the issue of an innovative approach to the management of agricultural land in Poland, in particular, on areas characterized by agrarian fragmentation. Factors were enumerated that prevent agrarian transformations, land market liquidity and land concentration. Based on the assumption that in regions characterized by agrarian fragmentation where local population demonstrates particularly strong attachment to land ownership but is slightly less interested in using it, an unconventional (innovative) approach to land management is urgently needed. The paper proposes how to manage the abandoned land (i.e. the land set aside) as well as the land left fallow. Methods of improving the agrarian structure can include: forming groups of farmers (stakeholders) leasing the land and groups of lessees who will lease the land collectively and manage it. The following should be supported: land consolidation by neighbors, land exchange among farmers for the purpose of maintaining crop rotation and services involving farmland restoration on areas with abandoned land as part of efforts to preserve its agricultural value and protect the landscape.
