Summary/Abstract: In this paper the author emphasizes the major ways in the creation of the family names: the anthroponymical conversion and the derivation, the last one using anthroponymical suffixes. The entire research refers especially to the surnames from Oltenia county. These names present a usual and a very common structure in all the Romanian counties. Thus, at the level of onomastics, this could be an additional proof of our linguistic unity.
