Summary/Abstract: The banquet as a form of conviviality and Roman euergetism. For the Romans, banquets were an important occasion for socializing, for feeling implicated in and integrated into the community, and for these reasons they had such a long tradition. This dimension of social significance of public banquets contributes to the better understanding of the reasons why they have been so much touched by the euergetic phenomenon.
