Summary/Abstract: One of the more prominent cultural and revival activists in the 19th century, mostly friars, was also father Antun Knežević. As one of the most influential people of his time and educator of the new monastic generation of the Silver Bosnia, he is especially important as a writer who dealt with Bosnian-Herzegovinian historiography, ethnography and enlightening work. In his writings, rebelliously intoned, he differs a lot from his contemporaries. He encouraged insurrectionary inclination against the Turkish reign, but he was also critical towards the new Austro-Hungarian period. Peculiarity of his writing and political-agitator action is introducing the “Bosnianhood” as a special national determinant and crucial basis for the state structure of unique Bosnia and Herzegovina. Regardless of some of his thoughts’ deficiencies, his contribution to historiography, ethnography, political thought and knowing of the cultural history of Bosnia and Herzegovina is unquestionable.
