On Modern Scandal and Oblivion

Summary/Abstract: “About the modern scandal and the oblivion” crosses the life and work of Portuguese modernism poetess Judith Teixeira. The text accompanies the translation into Bulgarian of Teixeira’s conference “About me” and is aimed at placing in a context both author and selected piece of work. This sort of introduction makes a review of the life of Teixeira and discusses the key characteristics of her work. The life review focuses on the scandal involving the edition of the poetess’ collections of poems and presents the main reflections of the row of accusations on her personal and artistic behavior in attempt to explain the reason for the oblivion. The discussion of Teixeira’s work, on the other hand, tries to point out the main values of her style and pick up the ideas that collide with the moral of Portugal’s society from the first decades of the 20th century.
