Summary/Abstract: This article sheds light on a new aspect of polyphony strategy, which is a key feature in Julian Tuwim`s poetry. The analysis of Anna Węgrzyniak re- veals “the echoes” of legionnaire`s song, tracks the acoustic and symbolic traces of this pop-culture phenomenon in numerous poems, written by the famous skamandrite. Rooted deeply in the tradition of Polish Romantism, the legionnaire`s song acquires significant myth-creative function, utilized by the propaganda of the sanation regime. As an attentive observer (and listener) of the political, social and cultural life in Poland, Tuwim uses the “foreign” (to his poetry) voice of the legionnaire`s song in order to create (or destruct) new lyrical reality. Games with “foreign word” can be found in all his works (poetry, satire, scenic texts) as the poetic language Tuwim has formed both by his roles of a poet, satirist and songwriter. All this makes the poet`s work of the interwar period a new phenomenon, which anticipates the emergence of a poetry – product of mass culture.
