Summary/Abstract: Pécs University was founded by pope Urban V., for the request of King Lajos the Great, and the suggestion of William, bishop of Pécs. The institution had been working as a university only for a short time, till the end of the 14th century: the study attempts to reconstruct its history with the help of the sources available.
