Summary/Abstract: “Out of anecdotal narrative a novel of fate is being built.” Pál Závada’s first novel called Jadviga’s Pillow became a bestseller in Hungary. His second novel, Milota received a colder reception. The review strives to reveal the virtues and the immanent contradictions of the work by analysing the structure of the novel and the relations between the characters.
