Summary/Abstract: The article deals with opinions concerning possible danger coming from the Asian population given by three Russian philosophers representing a period, which is known in the history of ideas as ‘The Silver Century’: Dmitrii Merezhkovskii, Vyatcheslav Ivanov and Nikolai Berdyayev. Their visions of Asia as a ‘xanthous danger’ are a background for deliberations about the nature and the historical mission of Russia and Slavdom. Both are described by using values that are opposite to those, which are attributed to the population of the East. In this context, ‘Asia’ plays a role of historiosophical vision and an ideological model, which exists in an analogous way to the concepts of ‘the West’ in the Russian philosophical debates.
