Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the analysis of the hagiographic narrative for Alexis Man of God explores how the story of this saint forms a specific notion of holiness and a picture of a spiritual experience. The analylis juxtaposes the texts in Syriac (Пайкова 1990: 101–107), Greek (Полякова 1995: 321– 332), Latin (Милер 1972: 104–109) and medieval Slavonic (Иванова 1986: 424–429; Адрианова-Перетц 1917: 457–511) written traditions and follows the chronological order of the vitae. The main idea of this study is to trace the complicated internal change in Alexis, who reconsidered of the roles in the family system. This leads to a new vision of the relationship with God which is expressed in the most synthesized form by naming the saint Man of God.
