Summary/Abstract: As shown by Małgorzata Czwartyńska, „the use of post-industrial legacy, as a tourism product, will co-create multifunctional Silesian region and participate in its restructuring”. With the changes in the employment sector and the transformation in the Silesian voivodeship, cultural tourism can become a driving force for the development of the whole region. Opportunities, so that Silesia has a chance to appear not only on the tourist map of Poland, but also Europe, certainly are distinctive image, which the region owes its industrial heritage, firmly rooted local identity, that in itself is already a thriving brand based on which are many products targeted at the younger generation. Threats to the development of cultural tourismin the region can be traced to deficiencies in infrastructure – quality of roads, accommodation facilities, public transport, public knowledge of other European languages, considerable distances between objects, chich are still not connected with enough strong network of cooperation. But the greatest of them may be waiting for Silesia to become an attractive tourist destination according to the criteria applicable to tourist resorts, but not to the basis of understanding the specific rules governing the dem and for tourism services from the culture tourists.
