Investment attractiveness and FDI inflows to the Silesian voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to present the investment attractiveness and the scale of foreign direct investment to the province of Silesia to other Polish provinces in recent years. The article cites some research results (rankings), systematically carried out by various institutions, which have taken into account a number of different factors influencing the decision to make an investment in a voivodeship. Then, the results of these studies (rankings) are confronted with the data on the inflow of FDI to individual provinces, with particular consideration of the Silesian voivodeship. This allows to observe how theoretical investment attractiveness of particular provinces is consistent with actual choices and decisions of foreign investors to undertake economic activities in a given Polish province. For better describe of the context of this issue, in the first part of the study there are presented data on the movement of capital in the form of FDI in the modern world and the size of the influx of them to Poland in recent years.
