Software Piracy And Measures For Its Suppression

Summary/Abstract: Providing adequate protection of intellectual property rights, especially copyright and related rights, is of special interest to all countries in the world. We live in a time in which the levels of counterfeiting and piracy have escalated to the point of an epidemic, causing enormous negative effects on the world economy. This paper analyzes one of the most important and widespread forms of piracy typical for the cyber environment – software piracy. The paper also reviews internationally adopted measures to deal with this disturbing occurrence and provides an overview of the situation in Serbia, which is currently attempting to catch up with international standards in this area.
