Summary/Abstract: Article Translated by S. Hattersley. The Jewish Museum in Prague (JMP) oversees one of the largest collections of Judaica and Hebraica in the world. Aspecific feature of its holdings is the fact that it comprises almost all the liturgical items from Bohemian and Moravian synagogues that were located in a specifically designated area and were shipped at a specific time to Prague, where they were put together to form a museum collection. Thus emerged an intact, although certainly incomplete set of items. There are several reasons for this: Jewish religious communities for various reasons did not send all their items to Prague. The instruction to send items to Prague did not apply to Jewish religious communities in the Sudetenland territories, which of course belonged to the Bohemian lands, and similarly did not apply to the collections of local museums where Judaica and Hebraica had been placed before the Second World War (Pilsen and Polna)
