Summary/Abstract: The post-Cold War period canceled the old geopolitical map to which the Extended Black Sea Region belonged and created a new geopolitical unit. The creation of a regional identity is based on its status as a “turntable” of the historical regional developments. Given its human, natural and commercial potential, the region highlights both a space of confrontation and cooperation, but also of contacts and permanent exchanges between different people and civilizations.
