Summary/Abstract: An author is in an extract from a wider drafted study focusing at the issue of reception of artistic impulses of the Italian film director, writer and dramatist Pier Paolo Pasolini in the Slovak cultural context. Since until 1993 (the origin of the independent Slovak Republic) a part of cultural impulses was coming into the social awareness through the Czech sources, the author is trying to naturally track also a chronological development of the reception status of Pasolini´ s work in the whole former Czechoslovakia, and analyzing the individual development phases of this issue. In connection to the theory of reception which resulted in forming of respective schools from the second half of the sixties of the twentieth century, she is mentioning that reception includes equally interpretation as also translation, and it cannot be narrowed only into passive perception of the artistic art, for example in the form of film or theatre performance. Reception includes also intertextual processes within original culture from which the art work originates, also processes of target culture where the art work is transforming, adopting thus the character of an original work of art. The author is emphasizing that she is not intending to overestimate the impact of Pasolini, but the knowledge of his aesthetic thinking or at least coming to terms with it, should be a requisite component also of our culture. His contribution is lying especially in the fact how remarkably he has affected not only the film theory itself, but by a syncretic thinking about respective art branches he has influenced also their history.
