Summary/Abstract: In the third volume of the Kor/ridor, Slovak–Hungarian Historical Journal two studies are presented. László Vörös analyzes the changes of social representations of the Slovak speaking population of the north-western part of the Hungarian Kingdom in the 19th century, and the Hungarian/Magyar nationalist discourses. The focus is on the period after the Austro–Hungarian Compromise in 1867, with particular attention on the years of the World War I. The study is based on the analysis of five Hungarian/Magyar regional newspapers (issued in mainly Slovak inhabited areas), in which the author explores the usage of social categories (“people/folk”, “nationality”, “nation”) and stereotypes as they were utilized in the social representations of the Slovaks. The goal of Tibor Pichler is to show – on the Slovak example – the problems of historically conditioned transition of Hungary from the stage of corporative society to the society of citizens. In our Critique coloumn we present a monography analyzing the action of a Hungarian party acting in Slovakia during World War II ., an anthology of studies dealing with the Trianon peace treaty from a new perspective diverging from political interpretations, a corpus published ont he 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Slovak Lutheran congregation in Budapest, a volume focusing on the nationality problems of Czechoslovakia between the two World Wars, and a book analyzing the forms of Slovak identity in the 19th century. In our Portrait coloumn we would like to present a Slovak philosopher analyzing the Slovak political thinking in the 19th century, Tibor Pichler.
