Summary/Abstract: This article studies the role and place of man in the political system of state in the Ca-tholic social teaching in the interwar period. It shows that state originates from human nature in which there is an innate tendency to unite with others in society in order to achieve security, peace and development. State is then a command of natural law which was inoculated in man by God. Therefore by natural law each society should have authority in the political system of the state. Regardless, however, of the form of political system, the Christian state should exist. A state can be considered as Christian one only if it displays the right attitude towards commandments of God and the church, respects the superiority of moral law over human rights, and its predominance in priva-te and public life. According to many thinkers, there was not any Christian state in the interwar period. In that time an important reason which did not allow to realize the Catholic state in Poland was an inconsiderate fight between political groups invoking to Catholicism.
