Summary/Abstract: Volunteering is a global phenomenon – volunteers are active almost in any society in the world. They help, teach, cure, build, feed, observe, donate and serve the other people and the community in many other ways.Volunteering in Macedonia is not at a very high level, but the truth is that the main reason for its poor development, up until the passing of the Law on Volunteering, has exactly been the absence of appropriate legal regulations that would regulate the legal status of the volunteer. Many unemployed citizens in our country represent a significant volunteering potential who, through various forms of volunteering engagement, can work on their education and skills, hence on the improvement of the opportunities for their employment.More and more non-profit organizations race in the fight for volunteers. The non-profit organizations need part-time volunteers to assist periodic projects or events, but they also need full-time volunteers who will help with the current work of the organization. Aiming at providing a well organized and productive inclusion of volunteers, each organization should establsih and understand its needs for hiring volunteers, as well as the needs and interests of the volunteers themselves.
