Summary/Abstract: Roma people have emigrated from India by the fifteenth century. It was their participation in the Persian and Arab occupation armies in the Middle East that contributed in the scattering of this population in various settlements throughout Europe. Roma people have both Islamic and Christian beliefs, which for them presented mainly a facility in their everyday life than a deep spiritual conviction. Their number in Europe t is supposed to be about 7 to 8 millions, but there are no exact figures about it. Roma people have been called with different names in Europe, gypsies or tsigani people. According to various studies, Roman language derives from the Sanskrit language. The word Roma means man. Roma population has been historically persecuted in all the European countries because of its race and has constantly suffered from racial discrimination. Suffices to bring to mind their persecution during the Second World War.
