The history of automobile movement in Serbia at the beginning of XX century

Summary/Abstract: The initial developmen of motoring in Serbia may be observed in two stages. The first one encompasses the period since the arrival of the first automobiles in 1903 until 1908. It is characterized by small number of cars, absence of supporting business and certain social resistance to this novelty. The second phase, until the Balkan wars, was accompanied not only by more cars and related businesses, but also by greater number of institutions that became its users. Among them, practically the most ardent advocate and greatest user of automobiles was the Serbian army.
