Summary/Abstract: Death is certain last which exposed of humanity the since creation. But this last is always in a hurry and premature. It is not easy to accept the death of a loved one. Needs of thinking the person who lost him then, in every society and every period has been a natural need. Lamentations are occurs from natural and intimate necessity in Turkish literature. In this study, providing information about the type of elegy since the Tanzimat literature ever written information about famous elegy examples are given. In our literature, with intermediation these examples are determined to change the perception of death.
