Summary/Abstract: the novel "The Buddha of Suburbia" by Hanif Kureishi entails unique reflection on the identity as a comprehensive and dynamic process, which in some moments represents a subject for manipulation. this book reveals not only the cultural identity, but also the recognition of national, ethnic and postcolonial identity. The literary characters from "The Buddha of Suburbia" are constantly self-exploring and self-proving, which speaks about the aspects of the auto-imagological notions and the (de)colonization in this Kureishi`s work, whom the literary critics often call the spokesperson for multiculturalism.
