Summary/Abstract: The clinical decision-making and treatment selection in the case of politraumatized patients are usually based on the results of imaging diagnostic procedures. An interdisciplinary clinical team is responsible for the most accurate management. Quick access to diagnostic images is vital for the proper timing of the treatment process. Cutting-edge telecommunication solutions allow a significant time reduction in the data access, imaging procedure, the interpretation of images and finally, clinical consultation. Multidetector row computed tomography currently used produces a high number of output images and large files for archiving. The interdisciplinary team can utilize fast transmission of selected, most informative images crucial for emergency procedures in the operating room (OR). The images selected by an experienced radiologist are transmitted as soon as possible to reach surgeon’s portable device. The described solution can be implemented during the transitional period until the optimalized Hospital Information System and Radiology Information System are fully operating and integrated in the facility. The simplified imaging data flow may be considered sufficient only in the hospital environment without picture archiving and communication system (PACS), which is still the case in many hospitals in Poland.
