Business Intelligence in Health Services

Summary/Abstract: The chapter deals with the idea of Business Intelligence systems and, particularly, with the OLAP technology. Fundamental terms connected with Business Intelligence are covered and the advantages of using OLAP in health services are shown. The chapter presents an example of employing OLAP cubes and data analysis using pivot tables. Efficient measuring, analysing and managing the patient flow require developing a tool capable of the analysis and visualisation of the operational data. Gradually, the employment of the technologies mentioned here becomes a requirement for efficient, effective and modern management.
