Conrad and his Polish heritage

Summary/Abstract: This article based on available biographical notes, selected epistolary legacy but also some of Conrad's literary works, tries to reconstruct key determinants which are responsible for Conrad's self-creative efforts which define his relations to the Polish past, tradition and cultural hertige. His attitude was changing during his literary career, which is the main thesis of this article, and seemed to differ firstly due to Conrad's position on the British literary market and secondly, owing to changing political situation in Europe, which could result in a potential change of the Polish territory.
